Parasang

Remote Livestream Series

3D Production – Posters

2021 – London

Parasang is a weekly live exploration of electronic music through the lens of London’s diverse sonic culture, curated and performed by Pouya Ehsaei and Hazzerbash.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Pouya adapted Parasang into a livestream format, inviting a wide range of musicians, dancers, and visual artists to collaborate in real time. Each week, a new one-hour performance was streamed live, bringing together artists from different disciplines and locations in a completely improvised audiovisual experience.

For this series, Pouya commissioned us to design a unique poster for each performance.

Initially, the plan was to base each poster on a combination of Afshin Chizari’s analog photographs and paintings. The first three performances followed this approach. However, after some creative discussions with Pouya and Afshin, we decided to push the visual concept further and explore a more imaginative, adaptive direction.

Since each artist was performing from their own home or studio, we developed the idea of creating 3D virtual rooms — each poster would feature a custom-built space filled with visual elements inspired by Afshin’s photographs (as key visual anchors), the instruments used by the musicians, the motion of the dancers, the aesthetic tone of the visual artists involved.

As the series progressed, these environments gradually evolved beyond the confines of a “room” and became more abstract or surreal, while still maintaining a coherent visual language through consistent lighting, spatial design, and mood.

This project became an opportunity for us to challenge the traditional boundaries of poster design. Instead of standard formats, we intentionally created elongated, cinematic compositions — allowing the visuals to breathe like wide, immersive frames from a film. Each poster wasn’t just a graphic asset, but a visual scene that told the story of that specific performance in a uniquely atmospheric way.

Parasang – “Murmuration” Poster Series (King’s Palace, London)

These three posters were created for a special series of Parasang performances curated by Pouya Ehsaei, held at King’s Palace in London.

The concept for this series was “Murmuration” — inspired by the mesmerizing movement of starling flocks that often fly above London’s canals and narrow streets. We used this natural phenomenon as the visual foundation for the design, echoing the improvisational nature of the performances themselves.

Each poster captures a different aspect of this living, dynamic pattern — blending abstract motion, repetition, and collective rhythm. The birds not only symbolized the performers’ interaction, but also mirrored the city’s layered cultural and sonic landscape.
